Buddha Japanese Character

Buddha Japanese Character

This month’s themed event invites artists to use Red and lots of it! This scan has come out a little orange but you get the idea. This is in Kanji style which is a loose style script and I enjoyed the challenge of making the character pop out.

The buddah figure painting is of my lavastone Balinese buddha which sits in my garden outside of my studio window here in Hood River. I painted it once before but this one seems to pop more too.

Year of the Tiger show at Dragon Fire Gallery, Cannon Beach, USA.

Monday, February 1st, 2010

walk-in-grace-and-powerwatermark I painted these while I was on a meditation retreat in Malaysia this month. Dragon Fire Gallery’s exhibition theme is celebrating the Chinese New Year,” Year of the Tiger” in February. It should be a lot of fun. There is another one of a tiger laying in bamboo looking back at the viewer but I can’t seem to get it inserted into this post without greatly compromising the layout.

This buddha image comes from a meditation i had wThis faceless seated buddha fits with the metaphor to be unattached with who we think we are, but just to be.

This image comes from a meditation I had where the facelessness of the seated buddha was a reminder to remain unattached with who we think we are or who we want to be in society, but just to be content and feel complete with the purity we have within.

Preparing for the Yoga Conference in Vancouver, Canada October 3rd and 4th,09

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

observe-your-inner-buddha3It has been a busy two weeks, finishing four paintings for presentation at my booth at the Yoga Conference in early October. I have also been spending time, meeting online other artists from around the world either through LinkedIn or Facebook and even though our planet continues to face challenging times, I can say that there is an abundance of beautiful, beautiful art being created to help keep the energetic balance. So let us focus on that balance and how we can all make a difference, just doing our own work either within or without and know that is enough sometimes.

Also, this painting was horribly cropped as it didn’t fit on my scanning bed so sorry about that.

“The Art of Transformation”

Thursday, July 30th, 2009

Be the change you choose to see in the world
That is the motto that fills our hearts
We know it is the only way real transformation takes place
We know that quietly and humbly we have the
power of all the oceans combined
Our work is slow and meticulous
Like the formation of mountains
It is not even visible at first glance
And yet with it entire tectonic plates
shall be moved in the centuries to come
Love is the new religion of the 21st century
You don’t have to be a highly educated person
Or have any exceptional knowledge to understand it
It comes from the intelligence of the heart
Embedded in the timeless evolutionary pulse of all human beings
Be the change you choose to see in the world
Nobody else can do it for you
We are now recruiting
Perhaps you will join us
Or already have.
All are welcome
The door is open.
