Tribute to Rodin
A Tribute to Rodin - “Self Portrait - Inner Landscapes”
For this theme “A Tribute to Rodin,” I am presenting a multi-media tribute to Master Sculptor August Rodin ( 1840-1917). I have painted 2 acrylic self portraits from photos taken of me by Bonny Macarewicz, with the compositions derived from two of Rodin’s sculpture masterpieces: “Eve” and “Fallen Caryatid”.
It was a profound experience when I viewed the master works of sculptor, Auguste Rodin in an exhibition in Tokyo, Japan in 1990. I was awe-inspired by how his works compellingly show the female form aware of her sexuality, without shame; assertive, not passive but supremely elegant and powerful. This experience awoke my connection to the artist within which had not been fully realized yet. Shortly thereafter while I lived in China, I took up sculpting, completing both a torso and bust self-portrait.
It is who I am as an artist, spiritual being , mother and companion that I hope will be reflected in these paintings.

ArtRageous Exhibition
The 12th annual "ARTrageous" art exhibition hosted by the Whistler Arts Council, blends Morrocan mystique, self-expression, interactive artwork and photography, hot funk by Soulstream, and a little food, wine and silk, for a night of stimulating creative celebration. Originally a party focused solely on an artist gallery and dance band, ARTrageous has grown to incorporate art-in-the-making and performance pieces, with the sophisticated feel of Cornucopia – Whistler’s celebration of food and wine.
