Yinspiration, Surf Art Exhibition

“The interstitial landscape between sky and sea is at once the turbulent setting, and the awesome inspiration for this collection of modern Zen-like paintings. Michelle’s own experiences surfing and kite-boarding have informed and engendered these vivid and powerful images. This acrylic series also features paintings of women in extreme sports, some of them her friends, who continue to inspire her in all aspects of her life. Wise and wild, incendiary and treasured, these gifted individuals reach into Michelle’s process with their very lives and form another facet on the name “Yinspiration”. The studies of Japanese Zen brush painting featured in her works retain their mystery and power, adding deeper meanings to the paintings. This exhibition is featured in the annual Whistler “Artwalk”, a community wide art exhibition hosted by the Whistler Arts Council.
